JobsTexas Rated Best for Jobs
Texas, the Lone Star State, has become the best state in the country for business. The economy is strong, job growth is on the upswing and business development is very positive. Now that Texas Governor Rick Perry has become a national media celebrity as he contemplates a run for the presidency, Texas is getting even more exposure.
Low taxes, minimal governmental regulation and a positive view of business have helped Texas capture the title of the best state for job growth for the seventh consecutive year. Texas is ranked high in its view of taxation, regulation, workforce quality and living conditions, all important for business creation and growth. As Governor Perry jaunts to Republican events and fund raisers, an army of media follow his every footstep. Whether Perry decides to enter the race and run for President remains to be seen. Either way, Perry is touting Texas' accomplishments and how the state has managed to weather the poor economy the last few years. Texas has brought new businesses to the state and created jobs because of its fiscally responsible priorities. Businesses have left states such as California, Michigan and New York and come to Texas, bringing jobs with them. Texas unemployment rate is around 8 percent, at least a full percentage point below the national average. Currently Texas employs over 10.5 million workers which represents a 2.4 percent gain over 2010 levels. Forecasts show Texas job growth this year at 2.5 to 3.0 percent bring total employment in the state to slightly less than 11 million. Housing is available and reasonably priced, a detail not lost of many unemployed people in other states. The inflow of people to the state has been positive even through the worst economy in years. In short, people know Texas has jobs and are coming to the state in droves.
