One of the most important part of a job application is doing the interview. Even the brightest minds can end up in a disaster with wrong words and wrong answers. The interview is the company's way to know whether those written in your resume are not just for the kicks.

An applicant must be ready for the questions to be thrown at him. There are generic questions of which you can prepare for an answer before the interview, but more often than not, companies create particular questions you wouldn't expect to be asked of you.

These questions normally will appear to you as weird or irrelevant, but the goal of the question is actually to stimulate your sense of control and your quick response. When times like these occur, spontaneity is needed. Failing to respond the proper way creates a bad impression.

At all times, you have to appear confident with your answers, but without arrogance. If you are asked to tell something about yourself, don't narrate your life story. Say something interesting about you and something in you that makes you perfect for the job. Do not compose a book. Do not oversell yourself.

Listen carefully to the interviewer. Pay attention and avoid asking to say the question again. Prevent yourself from looking at the ceiling or at the floor as if you were searching for the answer. Make sure your answer really answers the question.

Remember that getting hired for the position you want is just a matter of giving the right answers to the questions.
